Objectives of the project.
1: To improve knowledge and skills of maize farmers in market dynamics, marketing, and business skills
Market dynamics: Farmers will learn how to understand and analyze market trends, prices, and demand to make informed decisions about their produce.
Marketing: Farmers will learn effective marketing strategies to promote their products, reach new customers, and increase sales.
Business skills: Farmers will learn basic business skills such as accounting, budgeting, and financial management to improve their farm’s profitability.
2: To enhance capacity of farmers to produce high-quality maize by-products
High-quality maize by-products: Farmers will learn techniques to produce value-added maize products such as maize flour, maize meal, and maize oil.
Improved production methods: Farmers will learn modern farming techniques, such as irrigation management, soil conservation, and pest control, to improve crop yields and quality.
Access to technology: Farmers will be introduced to new technologies, such as mechanized farming equipment and processing tools, to improve efficiency and productivity.
3: Increase access to affordable, locally produced maize by-products.
Affordable prices: By increasing local production and reducing reliance on imports, maize by-products will become more affordable for consumers.
Locally produced: Farmers will produce maize by-products locally, reducing transportation costs and increasing freshness.
Increased availability: With more farmers producing high-quality maize by-products, the availability of these products will increase, making them more accessible to consumers.
4: Strengthen the domestic market and reduce dependence on imports.
Domestic market: By increasing local production and consumption of maize by-products, the domestic market will be strengthened.
Reduced imports: By producing high-quality maize by-products locally, the need for imports will decrease, reducing the country’s reliance on foreign products.
Economic growth: A stronger domestic market will contribute to economic growth, creating jobs and increasing income for farmers and related businesses.
